I was still in art college visiting Edmonton from Calgary and of course, I had to check out the Alberta Craft Gallery. I remember the first time I walked into the gallery. I knew I had to be part of this as soon as I stepped in the play a part in the success of so many fine craft artists. At that moment I bought a beautiful mug, knowing that with that purchase I was already supporting them (and making my morning coffee taste better!).

Today, 7 years later, I am lucky to be part of the staff at the Alberta Craft Council and I wanted to briefly share my personal story here. This is more than a job. It is a chance to support the many Alberta artists that put their heart and soul into their craft...and because this is a public gallery I hope more and more people get the chance to come in and experience exhibitions, learn a bit more about traditional and contemporary craft, and maybe treat themselves to a handmade treasure as well.
